We have been visiting Cozumel since 1990 and have almost always stayed north of town. For years, we always returned to Sol Cabanas del Caribe. We loved the laid back atmosphere there, and the people welcomed us back year after year. It was like returning home. After Huricane Wilma, we came down with the entire family and rented a villa near San Franciso Beach. It was great with the young children, although the taxi fare was high. A couple of years ago, we came down with out oldest son's family and stayed across the street from Chedraui. That was near enough to the square to walk back and forth. We have now found a new home at Condumel. We like the northern zone because it is quiet with less traffic. The snorkeling is superb and the taxi fare to town is reasonable.

Don and I love to stay at Playa Azul because it is small with only 50 rooms with mostly adults. It has a full breakfast buffet, each room has an oceanview balcony and it also has free golf green fees.
