A new very large fabric store is opening tomorrow. It's on the south side of Juarez between 7-11 & the church. It's were the old, old mall call Chachi was.

With the size of it, I'm hoping they have some greater variety and maybe some nice cotton or linen fabrics.

The store is Parisina, a Mexico City chain with over 450 stores in Mexico. Should be a nice addtion.

Next door to the little church down town, I don't know how many times you have been to Cozumel, but Juarez runs from the pier by the Plaza to Av. 10., from there it continues east thru town until it becomes the cross island road/Transversal Road.

Walked by there yesterday. They are still working away inside as I could see in through the crack in the door. The fabric in the window is wonderful! I'm looking forward to it opening! Odd location I think, but I hope they do very well.

It's open. I was in there yesterday. Lots of nice fabric, some very similar to what I've found at Joannes Fabric in the states, but much better prices.

Perhaps it's to soon to ask but do they offer seamstress service?

Do they carry any arts and crafts type of goods?

It looked to me like it was "just" a fabric store (no sheets/towels or seamstress on site). I was thrilled because I think I'm going to be able to get fabric for my dining room chairs without having to go to Cancun, Merida or bring it back from the states.

There are plenty of good seamstresses and tailors on the island. Would you like some recommendations?

The answer should be yes to both of your questions, we had several sets of curtains made several year ago a the store in cancun, you may want to ask to see some of the sewing work, to see if it meets your needs, like everything down here, most of the work is good, but other falls short.

Coz, I have a very nice seamstress; she will give you a quote, tell you a time it will be ready, and it is. She has made me dresses and blouses and shorts; and she also replaces elastic in pants, etc. She speaks a little English, but I can go with you if you want.

There are plenty of tailors around town. Some are better than others, depending on what you are looking for.

I checked out the store yesterday. They do have some linen fabrics, but the cottons they have aren't very appealing to me.

They do have some craft supplies, but not an extensive variety.

I've used her on your recommendation, ScubaWoman, and she is all you report. However, I've lost the directions to her house and her name. Could you post them here? I need some more work done.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry about that! Marie is on Mujica (sp?) between Morelos and 3. The street is one street east of Ave. 30; the house is the second one on the right, 2 story, white with blue trim. Her office is downstairs and they live upstairs. If the office door is closed, just call for her.
