Cozumel has it's very own chocolate factory, Chocolates Kaokao Damarshicheli, which you can tour for free. The owners Joshue and Maryline are a young enthusiastic couple who clearly love what they do. Tours are either 30 or 90 minutes in length. We took a 90 minute tour and time flew by!

The tour includes an overview of the history of chocolate in Mexico, demonstration of part of the chocolate making process and taste tests.

You can check out their products at the local producer's fair held every month (or so) or buy them at Los Cinco Soles or the Coffee Bean (yeah I know the name has changed, I just can't remember it right now)

To arrange a tour go to their web page and click the link for tours.

BTW the next local producer's fair is next weekend November 25,26 and 27 from 4-6 in the main square.

They are trying to hold one a month. The schedule varies and I don't think that they've planned that far out.

:) Excellent. Maybe by then they'll have their truffles available. We sampled passion fruit and fig - both were to die for! Enjoy!
