How to change the thread display
Posted 10 February 2010 - 10:28 AM
Goto your silhouette, with your screen name.
Select "Settings" from that menu.
You will now see "YOUR OPTIONS" you will see "Profile, Forums, Settings"
At bottoms of page you will see the following...
If you change the Topic Display Mode to "Linear" it will display the page as the origninal post, and all the threads will be open. It is more like the site used to be.
This is what to look for at the bottom of that page
* Include a copy of the post when emailing me from a watched topic
Enabling this option will send a plain text version of the post in the watched topic email.
* Watch every topic I reply to
o If enabled, choose default notification type:
* Topic Display Mode Standard: Posts are shown one after the other.
Linear +: The first post is always shown at the top of the page, with other posts shown one after the other.
Outline: All posts in a topic are shown in tree display, with one thread at a time shown.
The most important thing in life is not knowing everything, it's having the phone number of somebody who does!

BTW, I noticed many of us have been members of this forum long before Jan. of 2010, but I think it defaulted to that. How do we change the "member since" date? Not that it's earth shattering, but might be helpful for new members.
Many thanks to Carey and her diligence with getting the forum up and running again. I missed my island fix. The shaking has finally stopped.

But it looks like I'm going to have to bow to the consensus and switch the default to linear+. I'll admit, it IS easier to read. And I noticed that if you click the MultiQuote below a post that it will quote it at the top of your reply to show to whom you're responding. Am I making any sense.
Anyway, I guess I'll set it to linear+ tomorrow. What does everyone think?

This is good info.. I was going crazy trying to read the posts one at a time..
For example, now readers can see I'm reply to what linklady wrote above, right?
