Thursday was another afternoon dive (Pancho had another dive group in the morning). I always have a dinner party for everyone we dove with that week. Thursday night was the night. We decided to have shish kabobs. Pancho wrote out "I need 2 kilos of boneless chicken breast/pork cut into 1 in squares" in spanish for me since my spanish is not that good. Jay and I went over to the Mercado to get the meat in the morning. Then we put it into the marinade (soy sauce, oil, ginger, and garlic) to soak for the day. Here's the chicken lady and the pork guy from the Mercado.
Then it was off for today's dives. We did one of the reefs for our first dive.
Saw some nice critters on our first dive (ray, barracuda, crab)
The second dive was to the wreck. This is the only dive in cozumel where the boat stays in one place and you descend along a rope to the wreck. All other dives are drift dives - you descend and drift along with the current while the boat follows your bubbles. When you are done with the dive and ascend the boat is there to pick you up.
After the dive we headed back to the house to get ready for dinner. Pancho and family, Julio and family, Rafael (the cert diver instructor from the beginning of the week) and Mexicelia were all there. We all skewered the shish kabobs (meat, mushroom, pinneapple, red/orange/yellow bell peppers, red onions). Pancho then cooked everything on the 'carbon' grill (the partially burned pieces of wood looking charcoal). Add rice and salad. It was pretty good.
Note: all of these dinner party photos were taken by Mexicelia.
