I've been through customs in Cancun any number of times with it taking anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours. We're flying into Cozumel this year and I'm wondering how long it takes generally to clear customs? We are to arrive on a Friday mid afternoon around 2:30pm.

Cozumel is a small airport, and can get jammed if more then one flight lands at the same time.

I have never waited more then a hour for somebody to clear the doors, if that's helpful.

The most important thing in life is not knowing everything, it's having the phone number of somebody who does!

We're supposed to arrive at 2:30 and I see our car rental office closes at 4pm. Any delay and it might be tight. Hopefully, hey'll remain open if they know they have an arrival coming in..

We've been flying direct into Coz for over 15 years.  Probably at the very most 1 hour and more than likely it will be considerably less.  Enjoy!

I can't imagine the rental people won't accommodate you however you show up.

Two weeks ago, there was one day that had a 3 hour wait. 2 Immigration officers, 3 planes full. Can you contact the car rental company ahead of time and explain your situation?

It can depend on the time of year as well.  Higher season = more flights.  We have picked people up during Carnival time and had it take them 2 and a half hours, we have also picked people up in May and Oct and had people get through in 30 minutes or so.

Picked up a friend yesterday on the Delta 1:20 arrival, she was out at 2:20.  A flight landed before her's, and they only had two immigration people.

Everybody got the green light!

And today, with 15 flights scheduled to come in, it will probably be a little different.

;)
