To change a bit from, although excellent, Mexican food and following the advice read on Trip Advisor, we wanted to try the Italian restaurant New Especias. I must say that the experience was very good, apart from the surprise to actually find an Italian chef, Francesco (who is also the owner), has delighted us with a number of dishes that really made us feel like in Italy. That said, if you want to try a delicious Italian cuisine, do not miss to visit.
We went there three times already and will definitely be back as soon as possible

Not to distract from Especias, but what are people's opinions of Il Giardino's on Ave 15A between Calles 17 and 19?

I am a New Especias regular! Though I admit I have not tried anything on the menu except the pizza. But when I am happy with something, I stick with it. They are just the right size to share with someone and Franceso will split a pizza to keep couples happy (broccoli for my half, pepperoni for the hubby). This and the pizza at Mosiacos are my two favorites on the island.

I had tuna with a balsamic glaze and toasted sesame at Especias and it was wonderful.

Ok, what name is on the outside of the restaurant? This may be my Valentine dinner choice!

Love Il Giardino. One of our fave lunch spots.

Formerly ITALIANINI

It's actually formerly Especias. The signage and such hasn't changed. It just went from being an Argentinian restaurant to an Italian one. It's on Calle 3 Sur quite close to 5a Av. (more-or-less across from Del Sur).

Just curious, was Italianini  ever in the Especias location? It didn't last too long on Salas although well received. There was an Argentine cuisine restaurant at that location? I thought it went straight to the current operation after Adrian decided to give up after being closed during slow season. I liked his original location on calle 5 better. It's tough operating a restaurant in Cozumel even with sweetheart deals of low or no rent from family owned property.

Adrian claimed that the food at Especias was Argentinean.
