How To Clean Stainless Steel Chairs?

Yes, stainless steal rusts here.  My kitchen chairs are getting rust pits.

 

I have no idea how to deal with getting the pitted area free of rust.

 

They have a brushed swirl pattern, and I know that if I use a sander on them, the pattern will be history.

 

Suggestions will be most appreciated.
