I'm wondering if it's possible to plan my next trip around both the whale sharks and turtle nesting? Do the seasons overlap at all?

I promised my son we could take a day and snorkel with the whales, and my daughter we could volunteer at the Turtle Salvation Program.

Thanks in advance for the info!

Yes.  The seasons overlap.  Whale sharks June - mid September.  Turtles will start laying eggs in the next couple of weeks and will continue into the fall.

For the whale sharks you'll need to go to either Isla Mujeres or Holbox.  There are several operations that offer tours out of Cozumel.

Personally I prefer to plan on a couple of days in Isla - that way I can be reasonably sure that the conditions are good for seeing and snorkeling with the whale sharks.
