When we left to return home on October 18th, the Coral Princess was beginning a major renovation project. The FB posts from Pedro are a little vague so I was wondering if anyone has been by there and can give me an update. They were supposed to re-do the whole front entrance and lobby as well as a new pool and beach area. They are also opening a new roof top restaurant and patio area which was supposed to be ready this month.

Any updates are appreciated.

Mike

We have a condo near there and went past it numerous times 2 weeks ago.  All of the items you mentioned are in progress.  Based on what I saw, it is doubtful it will be complete by the end of the month.

There's a 2 page thread on this on the TA Cozumel forum....

It seems the same genius's who tore up the plaza in time for high season have counterparts at the CP.

lets say a long, and protracted negotiations went on in regards to the north area of the CP.  When it was all said and done (after whom ever got the palapa bars shut down) won their case in the end.

The property to the south (Iguana sanctuary) is about 3mil.  Not a lot of options there.

Again, lets say that the CP had to take action, and recover from this situation...what would you do?

As per Pedro at the CP, all work will be completed Dec 2014.10425082_766433550095761_14017307900211610385557_766433533429096_912801776443251

Thanks - I saw this on the CP Facebook page today.  December seems ambitious based on previous projects. He also posted some renderings of the pool area a while back but it is hard to visualize what it will look like for real. From the sketch it looked like they will not have any sand beach at all but I hope that is not true.

BTW - how's the plaza coming along?

the plaza appears to be ready to lay down the pavement.  It's much better then it was, but it's not there yet.

I'm planning on heading over to the CP this week for lunch, so will have specific info to post.

Just wondering at this point if anyone knows what's going on with the Coral Princess. Are the renovations finished and is there still access to the ocean from the beach?

A friend stopped by there on Thursday 12/1.  Renovations aren't finished and there is no access to the ocean just yet.

Based on what I am seeing in the background, on the left side of the picture, I'm thinking that it is still the artist's rendition.  I was hoping that it would be open this week, as I have friends staying there.

Visted the CP to take a look for myself today.

They are doing a soft opening tomorrow at 3pm. Fugga will be the entertainment.
The pool is beautiful (exactly like the picture). They lowered the section that separated the two pools, and both are heated. The waterfalls is really nice.

They have created a wall to block off the lot that they can no longer use with 3 cement palm trees in silhouette , which are lite, and huge.
They have taken out the palapa's on the beach, and replaced them black and white umbrellas.  The chairs are set up in rows, with plenty of room between rows.

The old palapa bar on the north end of the pool is so cool. It would be to hard to describe. Two new simi round showers to the right of the stairs going down.

The beach area, and entrance into the water has not changed.

The pool bar has that beautiful canvas awning, is exactly as it was pictured.

The have also added double loungers with colorful, huge cushions.

The dinning room walls have been painted black, with fabric to complement some of the other walls. During high season they will be offering either menu, or they will also have a buffet.

The VIP lounge, I didn't get to see, but Pedro said it will have loungers, and a hot tub with a bar up there. He also said, they will have a room up there with A/C to view, and watch the sunset.

I was very pleased with what they have done, and it looks so elegant to boot.

I asked, Pedro told me they were beach beds that lay on the sand.

It looks to me that they have an umbrella for every 2 to 3 chairs, which is what it was.

We have not been able to make it down for 3 years now due to health issues. Have they updated the members side of the hotel?
