Chetumal, 31 May.- Governor Roberto Borge Angulo announced that from next June 10, the Spanish company Pullmantur, which belongs to corporate Royal Caribbean International, will start operations from Cozumel, using the International Pier as "Home Port" for boarding and disembarkation of

This was a home port for  Pullmantur before, and they discontinued it.

Maybe this time's the charm.  Lots of political push behind it.

I think it might attract more Europeans.  They have soooooo much vacation time.

Fly in a week before, hop on the boat, cruise around, and stay a week or two on the island.

One of the problems (I read through the rags) is that the ferry companies would not give a break on the price of the tickets for flights landing in Cancun, then getting the passengers here for the cruise.

With the new ferry company, I bet they would jump at this.

... with capacity for 2 000 766 passengers...

That's quite the capacity. Interestingly, Wikipedia lists a capacity of only 2744.

They are only sailing out of here through August. After that, there is nothing scheduled through May of next year. Trial run for sure.

Google seems to translate 2,766 as 2,000 (+) 766.  It always pairs the thousands off.
