We will be on the island for 6 weeks this winter and we are looking for a cruise that will leave and return to the island for a week or less. It does not have to be one of the big cruise liners. Just looking for something to do while on the island.

I have searched the web and can't find anything leaving and returning to the island. Just stopovers from the major cruise ships.

Thanks

Joan

There are no departures from Cozumel. In June-Aug this year, there was one line that boarded in Cozumel - Pulmantur, I think.

You'll already be in Paradise -- why would you want to leave? If you truly get bored with Cozumel, take the Ferry over to Playa Del Carmen, rent a car for a week, and explore the Yucatan. Stay a night on Isla Mujeres, see Merida, Chichen Itza, Akumal, Tulum, some of the other Mayan ruins, even drive down to Belize if you like. And, if you do this by rental car, you can control your own schedule, unlike on a cruise ship.

Some years back, there were some short cruises to Cuba departing from Calica or maybe it was Puerto Morelos. They were real short, too short to really give a taste of Cuba, but looked very interesting and most tempting.

Pullman Tours were "home porting in Cozumel" for some of their cruises last year. I'm not a fan of mass marketed, giant ship cruising, but with a Cozumel departure, guaranteed to be more interesting. Nothing shows for 2016 anywhere.

Here's the original newspaper reported posted by Paula. "Home Porting" has been talked about for years, this was the first time in print.
