Follow the link to the Cozumel Suns story about flights to Mexico. Do I see a SouthWest flight from Houston to Coz coming?????

It's been rumored for some time now that Southwest will start flying here in 2016. I don't really want to fly into Hobby, but the way things are going with United, it may just be worth it.

Linda and I were down in early November.  Got round trip air out of Buffalo on Delta for $306.  In 15 years of doing this I've never seen it that cheap.

I sure hope so!  Although I don't like the idea of driving to Hobby.  I just tried checking on prices for flying down from June 3rd-10th from IAH as usual..telling me there is nothing.  We may be driving the DFW to fly to Cozumel if Hobby doesn't kick in before June.

Sherri, try doing Hobby to Cancun, grab a cab or bus to Playa (only about 35 miles) and then ferry to Coz. There are seats available and at a good discount if you fiddle with it. I didn't like the idea until I saw that the cancun airport was practically closer to playa than Cancun! Just looked at SW, departing June 3, Hobby, 9:55 and arriving 12:10, departing 10th 1:05 arriving at 3:20 in the afternoon - both nonstop. $479 per person including taxes, fees, (and all those fees really are crazy, about $80 per person). Throw in the car to Playa Del Carmen, or Carment del Playa and the ferry and your sipping margs in Coz! Who knows when and if SW gets on the stick with flying to coz, we want it, but do they?

Happy New Year,

Bill Ramsey/South of Houston

Just pulled the trigger on one SW round trip Baltimore to Cancun for Carnival.  Got it for base fare of 253.61!!!  WOW.  Now I added Early Bird check in for 25.  With companion pass, got the missus for 88.71 with EB check in.  With everything it works out to 171.16PP.  I wasn't real sure about SW taking over Airtran, but I am really liking it now!!

PLUS Southwest doesn't screw you on baggage fees - 2 checked bags for FREE on Southwest. On Spririt (the closest thing to Southwest in terms of pricing), those 2 checked bags cost you $60 each way. On American or United, $50-60 each way.

Re checked bag fees - just paid $25 for 1 each way on Delta. That wasn't too bad. Still mourning over the no more 1 free bag for "overseas customers."

Chief - that is a GREAT price...Congrats!
