Me, my wife, and our two year old are looking for a cheap but nice rental possibly for September this year.  We will be coming for a solid three weeks, and I was hoping I might could pay a monthly rate on a place even though we won't be there a complete month.  It doesn't need to be much, washer/dryer a plus but not necessary.  Internet is necessary.  Please reply to the topic, PM me or e-mail me johnivey@gmail.com if you have an offer.  Tentative dates are September 4-26th, though I might squeeze in til October 2.

Thanks

John

More specifics might be helpful. Number of rooms? Price range? Location? A/C or not? It may be a little soon to be asking.

I really only need 1 Bedroom, though a small extra bed or pull out couch would be nice.  Location - not really important, I would like A/C, though a breezy upstairs with windows and fans would be acceptable, especially for september.  Price range - I would like to have something around $750, lower the better.  Also one question - I see several rental ads that say utilities not included.  What would I be looking at for electricity for one month?  I know it can be high on Cozumel.

I can't think of a way to answer that in a way that has any chance of being reliable. It would depend on so many things, particularly air-conditioning. That would differ based on how many rooms you would cool, for what hours, to what temperature, and so on.

Even a range would be helpful, I guess I'm just trying to decide if a $500 month rental not including utilities is a better deal than a $1000 a month rental INCLUDING utilities.

I know that when we visit generally in November and stay with family, we run the air conditioner in our bedroom just at night as it is very noisy where we stay.  My brother-in-law has said that when we are there for a couple of weeks, his electric bill is about $600 for the month -- considerably higher than we're not there, as he never runs the air.  Also, use more hot water for showers, etc. Just a thought.

Just me but I like knowing up front what I'll be paying.

Extras or add on's later can be a shock.

You should have plenty of time to shop around and budget for a place.

Yup. Also included, of course, additional hot water for a couple of extra people taking showers, and our electric kettle -- he would literally cringe every time we would plug it in!

Important to find  places with up-to-date air (split/inverters) conditioners, propane hot water-on-demand, and places with cross breezes and fans so a.c can be kept to a minimum. Keeps those electrical bills down.

Does have mini-split, but you're right about the propane hot water on demand.  His electric hot waters have to be switched on a few minutes before you want to take a shower, and then turn them off as soon as you're done, so they're not running all the time. Also, small hot water tanks, so you learn to shower fast!
