Is it more economical to buy prescription lenses and frames in Cozumel than the $300-$500 I would pay here in Canada? My husband needs a new pair and no insurance coverage at the moment. He has an up-to-date prescription from his optometrist, and we'll be there for 10 days in a couple of weeks, so lots of time to buy them if it's worth it. Also, any recommendations where to go? Thanks.

We have a couple of places on the island which I have personal knowledge of, and would recommend.
Optica Caribe is very popular, and Concepcion Planas is the doctor. Concepcion speaks very good english.
You can send her a instant message via her FB page, and she will get back to you.

Also, there is Optica Davinci which is where I took my old frames in. They tested my eyes, and made new lenses for me. If you already have the script, the eye test was free, so it would be a verification on what you have.
I liked their pricing, but that was awhile ago.
I just asked my husband who purchased basic frames with lenses at Optica Caribe, and it was about $3000p's for basic frames, and lenses.
If you can do some leg work a head of time via the net, it will cut down on running around.
The most important thing in life is not knowing everything, it's having the phone number of somebody who does!

Thanks, I'll have a look at both places. If it doesn't take more than a week to get the glasses, we should be fine.
