Returning to Cozumel on my own this time. Visited a few years back with family and friends, but after a big family vacation this year, am treating myself to a birthday trip to indulge on my own. I feel like cozumel is very safe, love the food and BEST SNORKLING right off the shore.
Any advice on inexpensive accomodations?
thanks!

I vote for either Coral Princess Hotel or Blue Angel Resort.

Both are best for snorkeling, and guest services around.

CP or BA is only 1.5 miles from town, and you can taxi, or rent a bike and go back and forth.

In town, Hotel Flamingo, or Hacienda San Miguel.

I can only speak for myself, but I would not stay at a B&B that is back in the HOOD...no view, and you would have to taxi everywhere.

It's your birthday, treat yourself.

Mi Casa en Cozumel is a wonderful B&B that is on Avenida 5 (1 block from the oceanfront) between Calle 7 & 9. It's a very easy walk to the plaza and any number of restaurants. Two of the rooms have A/C, the others don't - there's a fabulous breeze that blows through, though. Last I checked, the rate for a week came to about $59 per night and you get a discount if you pay up front when you make the reservation. I highly recommend it.

Agree Kandy, Mi Casa is nice, and pretty darn cool...

I guess the OP needs to state what they really want, and what they are willing to pay for it.

We can shout out all these recommendations but two things for me:

What is their exceptions? "snorkeling right off shore" isn't anything in town.

and, when are they coming?

I used to live in Cozumel and now I return quite often alone. I normally stay at Pepitas...350 MXN/nt. Great a/c, fridge in the room and free coffee in the mornings. Very close to the plaza, very nice staff, very clean. Not much of a treat....but I would rather spend my cash on all the great food and attractions.

I am actually thinking about over the christmas holiday, if not I'll wait until feb. Don't need to stay on the beach, I can probably taxi it to one of the local beach bars for snorkeling. I like the idea of staying in town, only not around the cruise ship dock and the rowdy bars. I'm hoping reasonable, $50? a night?
